If Not This, What Else?

Every moment is unique and inescapable. Its fleeting nature can feel isolating, yet that same impermanence is what makes it precious. Pleasure comes from being present as each moment unfolds into the next.

The immediate question I have is – so what? What’s the point of welcoming the next moment? To that, it’s worth asking, if not this, what else? If I couldn’t stay here and watch the events unfold, does it even matter that it happened?

Only that day dawns to which we are awake. – Henry David Thoreau, Walden
